Well Here is What I Stand For

Well Here is What I stand For ……

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.
H. L. Mencken
We cannot fail to realize that in this world when we fail to act on behalf of the oppressed, the poor, the criminals we allow ourselves to lose the freedoms that we are so scared that these individuals will take away

Parting Thought

Marshall – Comes to an end

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Benjamin Franklin
This is the core – without our liberty we are not what we think we are – we are only in a state of complete fantasy – Living in Fantasy brings complacency – but it is a loss for us all  MWJ ©2005

Well I Guess Just Some Thoughts
  • Working on a Civil Rights Case is Important - not only does it allow you to recognize the true significance of the Bill of Rights but that so many take it for granted
  • Working along side talented people makes you realize how work gets done - by drones because the talented are too cerebral to get beyond conversation
  • Having truly great friends is the most invaluable benefit of existence - if one does not have the ability to recognize how special social interaction can be - I am truly sorry - tell your acquaintances to leave
  • Women are puzzles but why are all the pieces never included - or some how got lost along the way

Commentary on relationships

  • You meet someone early on in life and it is almost as if it was too soon
  • You meet someone later and you wonder if there is a rush and what should come of the relationship - maybe it was entered without thinking, desire to be in a relationship - maybe the physical contact
  • You realize that the person you meet early on in life is someone that means a lot to you and that the worst thing that you have ever done was not allow time to create a friendship with someone you will never forget
  • You continue to look for a friend, lover, and significant other with the realization that you may not have to settle but adjust your priorities
  • THIS all is done while trying to address the issues in your own life and to become happy with yourself
  • I am happy with myself and I am ready to meet someone - but will I meet someone that is ready as well - ARE WE EVER READY?

Commentary

The Hurricane Katrina

  • I believe that this is a terrible disaster

In response I have made two donations:

I made a $100.00 donation to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Fund

I made a $100.00 donation to Oxfam America for Hurrican Katrin Relief

I know this is not some excessive amount of money but I feel that every American should give something - if not money then time if not time then compassion and if not compassion then the realization that you could be in the same situation

We need to move for change in this country - a federal system is only beneficial along as the unity of the member parts can not fend for themselves --

I am willing to donate time to this disaster but practical consideration require me to donate in the form of currency - I am happy to make these donations and I hope they can help

We shall never forget 8-29-2005

Because unlike an external force that attacked our way of life - it was a failure in the government that has lead to the loss of life and maybe somebody will realize that Americans never desire one another to suffer - Middle Class white america is not unsympathetic to the poor -- We will only take so much - Americans care about Americans -- We are a people that may be divided in classes but we are unified in identity and it is such an identiy that shall not be lost by the failure of our government and the politics of the poor -- We shall survive this disaster and realize that if this is the response to a disaster of nature - what would have happened if this had been a terrorist attack

Well the weekend in Norman, Oklahoma

I helped my brother this weekend with his new house in Oklahoma. We painted two rooms and as well repaired the plumbing.

He has a nice house in a nice location - I think he is enjoying law school

I am planning on a trip to California at the end of the month - I shall wait and see what happens though - there is a lot of planning to do - I also need to go and visit friends in Portland, OR London, UK, and Boise, ID.

I miss California and will be looking for employment in the coming months in the southern California area

I also have an interest in teaching - I believe that I want to become a professor of law and as well to teach at the college level - I am hoping to one day reach this goal - my passions are still criminal defense, intellectual property, and anything in a courtroom

This is a short week @ law school

What about this hurricane Katrina - I am truly enraged at the Federal Government - I guess I am an optimist or maybe an idealist - because I truly can not recall when I believe our government would be so lax to respond in a crisis among Americans in America???? I believe that the federal government is something that should be there for its citizens and that there is value in a federal system - BUT after the horrible response of George Bush and the White House I do not know what to believe.

I just can not think that a country that so quickly sends troops to IRAQ can not help our own citizens in a time of need

In less stable countries this would cause a revolution -- but hopefully here it will cause regime change -- And I believe the Bush presidency has been a regime and as such will luckily bring an end to republican control of the white house

Prediction

John Roberts WILL NEVER become Chief Justice - The Mandate of President BUSH IS GONE -- He has lost the hearts and minds of Americans and now he best remove troops from IRAQ because that is all that can possibly save the Republican party for the 2008 elections -- Thank you President Bush for allowing a democratic president to return to the White House in 2008

With regard to being single --

I just want to thank Elisabeth for the time we had together as boyfriend and girlfriend. I also want to note that I feel that I have grown so much from having her in my life and I know that she will remain an important part of my life hopefully for many years to come. I do believe that what we had ended a little abruptly and if I had it to do over again I would try and make sure that we had more time together. I do not have regrets about the relationship since she made me feel wonderful again and provided the support and insight that has proven invaluable to me. I know that Elisabeth and I shared quite a lot in common and no matter how many times she may say that she "is not nice" she has never been mean or insensitive to me. Elisabeth is a wonderful, caring, and determined young woman who will have no problem doing what she wants and finding her happiness.
Well I guess it is time for an update:

I am working on my weight - http://mwjdietlog.blogspot.com

I am currently single - As of 8-9-2005

I am starting my 3rd and final year of law school - As of 8-22-2005
